Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt

It is very important to involve children in new outdoor games often, to increase their interest in going out and playing. Scavenger Hunt game is an interesting game for children 4 years and above. Here, a list is prepared and given to children to go and pick up some items outside the house, like brown leaves, wilted flowers, evergreen leaves, black stones, colored stones etc. the list may be different for very small children and older children. A bag or basket is provided to all for collecting the items. Whoever collects all the items first is the winner. The boundary has to be set, beyond which children should not venture.

This is a very interesting outdoor game for all seasons. Children learn to explore the nature and differentiate between things which they see daily but do not bother to give a second glance. Along with active physical exercise, children get mentally stimulated. Older children can be asked to pick some fruits or even collect worms or small and safe insects. Children can even be divided in two teams; whichever team collects all the items first is declared the winner. This way more and more children can be involved and the game can turn out to be real fun. Variations can be made by adding different items and lists every time. All the outdoor games help children getting used to group activities and interacting with each other. Healthy competition should be encouraged among all children for their growth both, mentally and physically.
