Sibling Classes
YOUNG SIBLING CLASS:
This class is developmentally appropriate for children 3-6 years and their parents. Our hour long sibling class is a fun way for excited siblings-to-be to learn more about what to expect with the arrival of their new baby brother or sister and how they can help their parents with their new sibling. This class helps to alleviate fears that children may have about their new sibling’s arrival and provides a safe place for children to express their concerns about the changes their family will experience.
$50 per child for one child, $30 per child for multiple children, includes parent attendance and certificate of successful completion.
Class activities include:
Discussion of what to expect during the mom’s hospital or birth center stay
What babies do when they arrive home
How attention will be shared with their new sibling
Reading a “new baby” book and discussing characteristics of infants
Interactive role-play using dolls
An art project
A special certificate of completion for the older sibling.
OLDER SIBLING CLASS:
The arrival of a new baby brings many changes to a family. This one hour class is ideal for children 6-12 years old who are expecting a new sibling. It is a fun way to educate children about newborn baby behaviors and how life with a new born will vary from their current lives. It teaches helpful skills, helps minimize jealousy and ease emotions about the arrival of a new sibling.
$50 per child for one child, $30 per child for multiple children, includes parent attendance and certificate of completion.
Class activities include:
Discussion of what to expect during the parent's hospital or birth center stay
What babies do when they arrive home, discussing characteristics of infants
Demonstration and practice of how older siblings can help their parents
Practice changing baby
A special certificate of completion for the older sibling.
